Both teams elected to give their first team squad players a run out in this match, after the long winter break. The game was played on an awful pitch that has been over-played on, and with the recent bad weather, was not a surface for the Woods’ normal passing game.
After the initial battle to gain control, it was Northwood who got their noses in front on 15 minutes when Scott Purdue got in behind the Beaconsfield defence, and his pass was despatched into the net by Anton Lewis.
The Woods had the better chances in the first half to have gone further in front, and they rued their misses when the equaliser was hit home in injury time.
There were few chances in the second half, and Northwood’s best effort fell to substitute Campbell-Grimshaw, but he couldn’t convert into a goal.
Beaconsfield had a goal ruled out in injury time, and all-in-all a fair result on the evening.
